F.E.W. Re-Evaluation Study
On September 25th, an agreement was signed for a Feasibility (Re-evaluation) Study of the F.E.W Dam structure and operations. The study will be managed by US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), which owns and manages F.E.W Dam. New York City (NYC) is the primary non-Federal sponsor ($1.4 million) along with the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC), which consists of the governors of PA, NY, NJ, and DE, plus a Federal Designee, as a co-sponsor ($25,000). The DRBC & NYC wish to explore further incorporating water storage at F.E.W. reservoir for use in the Delaware River basin flow plan. Currently, the DRBC can only request storage in F.E.W. reservoir when drought conditions are declared, otherwise leaving any water storage in the reservoir to the discretion of USACE for flood control and recreational uses
